BIR AS is a leading waste management company in Norway, catering to over 365,200 residents across various municipalities. We also provide waste solutions for businesses. Our company is owned by Askøy, Bergen, Bjørnafjorden, Kvam, Osterøy, Øygarden, Samnanger, and Vaksdal municipalities, all of which have designated BIR as responsible for handling household waste.

As of 2019, BIR had a workforce of 473 employees and a turnover of NOK 1,013. 3 million. Our goal is to own and manage companies involved in the collection, transport, and processing of consumer, industrial, commercial, and hazardous waste.

BIR operates in two segments: one as a monopoly and the other in a competitive market. We provide home collection services and have designated return points and recycling stations for glass, metal, electric, hazardous, and bulky waste.
