## Description

Birds New Zealand, also known as Te Kāhui Mātai Manu o Aotearoa, is New Zealand’s ornithological society. Its mission is to foster the study, knowledge, and enjoyment of birds, bringing together people interested in birdlife and ornithology. The society supports members through local branches, membership plans, regional newsletters, birding news, and information about rare and vagrant birds. Its website also provides resources for finding events and connecting with birders in local communities.

Birds New Zealand promotes research and learning through society projects and studies, national schemes, funding opportunities, awards, and grants. It publishes a range of materials, including the scientific journal Notornis, Birds New Zealand magazine, a bird checklist, and other current and historical publications. The society also hosts events such as the New Zealand Bird Conference, regional gatherings, and youth camps, and shares information about national and international events. Visitors can learn about joining, renewing membership, donating, and giving gift plans, as well as explore research, publications, and other birding resources.
