## Description

Birthlight is a Cambridge-based charity founded in 2000 by Dr Françoise Freedman, building on birth preparation classes she began teaching in the 1980s. It supports women, parents and babies through specialist yoga and body-based practices, with training and classes offered in the UK and internationally. Its approach focuses on wellbeing from conception through pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery, extending into a child’s early years.

Birthlight trains teachers in five areas: perinatal yoga, aqua yoga for women’s health, baby massage and yoga, baby swimming, and Well-Woman Yoga. Courses are available fully online, in blended formats and face to face. The organisation also provides in-house training for corporate, community and charity-sector providers, along with course resources, conferences and a directory to help people find Birthlight-trained teachers and classes. Its baby and toddler offerings include age-appropriate movement and aquatic nurture. Birthlight shares information and training opportunities through its website and offers organic Birthlight clothing through its shop.
