## Description

Bisinger Butzen is a traditional cultural group rooted in the history of Bisingen, originating during the devastating plague years from 1610 to 1611. These masked figures, known as Butzen, were created by local citizens who bravely undertook the grim task of handling plague victims, donning protective disguises to avoid contagion. Characterized by their distinctive black masks adorned with colorful ribbons and bells, the Butzen carry on this unique tradition through vibrant community events, particularly during their famous local carnival, the Bisinger Ortsfasnet.

The group features various figures, including the Medicus, who wears a long black cloak and a beaked mask, utilizing herbs to protect against disease, reflecting historical practices of the time. In addition, they incorporate elements of military history with their colorful cannoniers, inspired by soldiers from the Thirty Years' War. The Bisinger Butzen welcomes new members wishing to partake in this rich heritage, offering a trial membership to experience the unique cultural festivities firsthand. Join the celebration as they keep the spirit of Bisingen alive!
