## Description

Bitcoin Companies is a live directory and research platform tracking organizations that hold Bitcoin. Its interactive treasury map and leaderboard cover more than 1,243 companies and other entities, with reported holdings totaling 8.26 million BTC. Users can explore organizations by location, compare rankings, and filter map results by categories such as exchanges, software, mining, custody, ETFs, DeFi, government, and wrapped Bitcoin. The platform also features company profiles, recent activity, news, a heatmap, and tools for reviewing treasury growth and holdings.

Bitcoin Companies says it gathers information from public disclosures, including regulatory filings, press releases, and fund reports, and cross-checks reported positions against on-chain data. Organizations can submit extended public key addresses for direct verification. A tier system groups holders according to the size of their Bitcoin reserves, from small holdings to the largest treasuries. The site also offers educational resources, including a Bitcoin history timeline, FAQ, blog, and monthly treasury report.
