## Description

The Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS) is dedicated to enhancing the credibility of scientific research by promoting transparency, reproducibility, rigor, and ethical practices. Established in 2012 as part of the Center for Effective Global Action at UC Berkeley, BITSS collaborates with a diverse community of researchers, students, faculty, and funders to address challenges in the scientific landscape.

The initiative focuses on generating evidence through meta-research and increasing access to open science education, enabling scholars to conduct and participate in transparent and reproducible research. BITSS offers a variety of resources including workshops, curricula, and financial support, while cultivating a network of advocates committed to advancing open science.

Additionally, BITSS works to strengthen the scientific ecosystem by developing policies and protocols that foster equitable changes in research practices. By advancing these objectives, BITSS strives to create a more credible and accountable scientific community for the benefit of society at large.
