## Description

BIVAM, the Biblioteca Virtual do Alto Minho, is a digital library dedicated to the writings, authors and cultural life of Portugal’s Alto Minho region. Founded around the idea that residents should be able to discover the literature of their own communities, it brings regional works together in an online, searchable collection. Visitors can explore books by author and geographical area, browse featured selections and recent additions, and build a personal collection. The catalogue includes a range of literary works, such as plays, novels and other publications, with descriptions that introduce their themes and authors. BIVAM also provides information about authors, a cultural agenda for Alto Minho, and access to news and coverage from newspapers and magazines. Its website includes a bookshop, allowing visitors to discover and purchase selected titles, alongside articles and opinion pieces that support engagement with local literature. By combining digital discovery, book access and cultural information, BIVAM serves readers interested in the stories, people and publications of Alto Minho.
