## Description

The Black Fly Challenge (BFC) is the premier gravel grinder race held annually on the second Saturday in June, showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of the Adirondack Mountains. Established by the Adirondack Mountain Bike Association, the BFC offers a unique 40-mile course that alternates between Indian Lake and Inlet, NY, featuring a mix of rugged mountain roads, dirt, gravel, and challenging elevation changes. Initially started as a mountain bike race, it now attracts diverse participants including cyclocross racers, tandems, and even unicycles, making it a versatile event for all cycling enthusiasts.

With a focus on community involvement, the BFC reinvests race proceeds into local trails and recreational initiatives, thereby promoting and preserving multi-use trails in the West-Central Adirondack region. The event not only supports the cycling community but also aims to stimulate the local economy through partnerships and volunteer efforts. Participants can expect an exhilarating race experience, with prizes for top finishers and a vibrant community atmosphere. Join the challenge and be part of a storied tradition!
