Description

Black Girls Film Camp is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the next generation of storytellers. The camp offers a unique 16-week experience for high school Black girls across the United States. Participants have the opportunity to pitch their own story ideas and 10 finalists are selected to have their short film projects produced by the program.


The camp provides all the necessary resources for the girls, including technology like SONY Cameras and lighting kits, as well as software like Final Draft and Adobe Premiere. Each participant is assigned a personal production team of exemplary Black women creatives to guide them through the process. Additionally, the camp offers free workshops from award-winning Black women filmmakers and Ph.


D. The films created by the girls and their production teams are showcased at virtual events and film festivals throughout the year. Alumni also have the opportunity to participate in international outreach events to share their stories and support other aspiring young Black girl filmmakers.


Black Girls Film Camp aims to create safe spaces for Black girls to build critical media literacy skills and share their stories through film with the world
