Welcome to Black Mountain Home for Children, an organization with a rich history of caring for youth in need. Established in 1904 as Mountain Orphanage, our mission is to provide a safe and supportive home for children from birth through college and beyond. At Black Mountain Home, we offer a true continuum of care, catering to the diverse needs of children at every stage of their lives.

Our programs include family foster care, cottage care on our campuses in Black Mountain and Pisgah Forest, transitional living with life coaching for teens, independent living for older youth, and our apprenticeship program for those working towards career goals. We also provide lifelong living support for individuals with learning or cognitive challenges as they transition into adulthood. In addition to our wide range of programs, we host various events throughout the year to engage the community and raise awareness about child abuse.
