## Description

Black Rock Observatory is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that brings astronomy to art festivals and other unexpected places. Since 2014, it has connected people with the cosmos through telescopes, scientists, and engaging storytelling, helping thousands experience celestial wonders firsthand. Visitors can observe planets, galaxies, and nebulae, see Saturn’s rings, and explore meteorites formed billions of years ago. The organization’s programming combines science and art to encourage curiosity, humility, and a deeper connection to the universe, with particular attention to inspiring young minds. Black Rock Observatory reports that more than 50,000 people have experienced the cosmos through its telescopes and met astronomers who bring their knowledge and enthusiasm to public events. The organization also invites people to support its mission through donations, volunteering, collaboration, or by bringing its programs to events. It is raising funds to build a new observatory dome planned to debut on the playa in 2026. Contributions are tax-deductible, and the observatory shares information about its work and activities through its website and social media.
