## Description

Black Sand Box is a surf school and equipment rental project based on São Miguel Island in the Azores. Founded to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle in the local community, it welcomes both residents and visitors to experience the island’s Atlantic waves. Certified local instructors adapt lessons to each student’s ability and to the day’s surf conditions, selecting suitable locations, boards, and equipment. Lessons are available for all ages, from first-time surfers to more experienced riders, with group, private, and small-group private options. Each lesson typically lasts 90 minutes, and the price includes a surfboard, wetsuit, and leash.

For independent sessions, Black Sand Box rents surfboards, bodyboards, swim fins, and wetsuits by the day, with multi-day rates available. Its services also include longboarding guidance and premium FireWire surfboard rentals. Beyond lessons and rentals, the project organizes events, competitions, demonstrations, and social activities. Licensed as a tourist maritime operator in the Azores, Black Sand Box provides civil liability and personal accident insurance for its classes, supporting safe, enjoyable experiences in the water.
