## Description

Black Star Drum Line, founded in 2008 by accomplished drummer Joey B. Banks, is dedicated to empowering youth through music education, particularly in the percussive arts. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the organization focuses on nurturing creative expression while fostering community service and professional growth in music. With over 600 performances, Black Star has become a vital part of the local cultural landscape, collaborating with notable artists and contributing to events such as "Lifest" and performances with the Milwaukee Bucks as their first junior drum line.

The group emphasizes core values of diversity, respect, unity, and mastery in its youth development model, refined over more than two decades of experience. Black Star Drum Line also operates the newly established Black Star Academy, located at the Madison Youth Arts Center, which serves as a hub for various performing arts programs. Through its comprehensive offerings and commitment to youth enrichment, Black Star Drum Line aims to cultivate the next generation of musicians while celebrating the vibrant culture of percussive arts.
