About
Description
Black Women Photographers™️ is a global community and directory dedicated to empowering and promoting Black women and non-binary identifying photographers. Founded by Polly Irungu in July 2020, it serves as a valuable resource for the industry's gatekeepers, connecting them with over 1,000 talented individuals across 50 countries and 35+ U. S.
At Black Women Photographers, proper recognition and opportunities for employment are the top priorities. Members benefit from an active database that showcases their work to photo editors, directors, curators, and art buyers. Additionally, the community offers a range of free educational resources, including webinars, workshops, trainings, and portfolio reviews.
Through engaging conversations, virtual and in-person events, and an annual $50K grant fund, Black Women Photographers aims to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where Black creatives can thrive. Their ultimate goal is to increase access to professional and paid opportunities for Black women photographers worldwide. To stay updated with the latest news and monthly updates, you can sign up for their newsletter.
