## Description

Blockcerts is an innovative open standard designed for the creation, issuance, viewing, and verification of blockchain-based credentials. By utilizing cryptographic signing and tamper-proof technology, Blockcerts enables secure digital records for academic credentials, professional certifications, workforce development, and civic records. With a mission to empower individuals with control over their official records, Blockcerts fosters a collaborative environment inviting contributions and feedback from the community. The project's foundation traces back to prototypes developed at the prestigious MIT Media Lab, with ongoing stewardship provided by Hyland Credentials. This open-source initiative encourages developers to collaborate and build interoperable solutions rather than creating isolated implementations. Users can also engage with a supportive community forum to share ideas and resources related to the application of blockchain technology in credentialing. Through Blockcerts, the future of digital credentials is being reshaped, enhancing accessibility and trust in official records across various sectors.
