## Description

BDR, or the Blood Donor Registry, serves as the national registry for blood donors in Greece, promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring the safety and quality of blood supply. Effectively implemented under the project for “Central Electronic Services for Managing the National Registry of Volunteer Blood Donors,” BDR utilizes an innovative information system to streamline donor registration and enhance the overall process for donors and blood service providers.

With more than 1 million registered volunteers, BDR issues Volunteer Donor Identification Cards, simplifying the procedures associated with blood donation. The system integrates local databases to solve historical fragmentation issues in donor information management, thus providing a comprehensive overview of blood collection nationally.

BDR coordinates with the National Blood Center and the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructure to ensure a systematic approach to blood donation. Currently available through a mobile application, BDR aims to continuously improve communication, respond swiftly to crises, and encourage community participation in blood donation initiatives.
