## Description

Blue-Action is a European research project focused on how changes in the Arctic affect weather and climate across the Northern Hemisphere. Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, the project brought together more than 120 experts from 40 organisations in 17 countries. Its researchers combined empirical science, statistical methods and climate modelling to improve understanding and prediction of the effects of Arctic warming on atmospheric and oceanic circulation, including climate and weather extremes.

Blue-Action shares its work through research publications, reports, deliverables, policy briefings, news articles and events. It also offers climate services that translate scientific findings into relevant information for stakeholders. These services address topics such as winter tourism, temperature-related mortality, extreme weather risks for maritime activities, marine fisheries and scenarios for the Russian Arctic. Other areas of work include ocean observations and predictions, climate services, marine research and climate system tipping points. The project also supports public engagement through newsletters, training, webinars, climate coffees and other outreach activities, helping connect scientific results with policy, industry and communities.
