Blue Frontier is an ocean advocacy organization and a program of the Ocean Awareness Project, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. For more than 20 years, it has worked to educate, inform, and mobilize people to protect the ocean, coasts, and coastal communities. Through media, education, and public engagement, Blue Frontier equips ocean-minded people to participate in decision-making and promote policy solutions.

Its work includes Rising Tide: The Ocean Podcast, featuring conversations with diverse ocean voices on marine life, culture, and urgent issues affecting the seas. The Kelp Education & Learning Project (K.E.L.P.) builds awareness and coalitions to protect and restore marine forests through outreach, film, writing, and policy initiatives. Blue Frontier also offers media training and workshops, supports the Writers for the Sea and Youth Ambassador programs, and maintains the Blue Movement Directory, which profiles more than 1,200 ocean conservation groups.

The organization has produced books, articles, and documentary videos, and convened national and regional gatherings connecting grassroots advocates with policy leaders.
