About

Description

Blue Lake Rancheria is a federally recognized Native American tribe located in northwestern California, near Eureka and Arcata. Established in 1908 as a refuge for homeless Indians, the tribe's land spans 100 acres along California Highway 299, within the ancestral territory of the Wiyot people. Despite being terminated in 1958, the tribe regained federal recognition in 1983 and has since focused on rebuilding and revitalizing their community.

Today, Blue Lake Rancheria boasts a range of thriving economic enterprises that provide employment opportunities for locals. These enterprises support government operations, diverse programs, and initiatives promoting economic resilience, sustainability, and environmental protection. The tribe also offers a wide array of social services to its members.
