About
Description
The Bob Burdetter Center (BBC) is an exceptional out-of-school time academic enrichment center that offers free after-school and summer programs to West Side and North Charleston families with children in grades K-5. As a US Department of Education 21st Century Community Learning Center, the BBC upholds high standards for its program and prioritizes the well-being and support of the entire family. Qualified school teachers provide tutoring and serve as academic enrichment leaders, offering personalized and group support at all sites.
The BBC's afterschool enrichment leaders lead daily programming that includes STEM, reading and the arts, college and career readiness, social emotional learning, life skills, and physical recreation. Site coordinators, directors, and administrative staff ensure the smooth running of programs and collaborate with community partners to provide engaging activities and unique experiences that help students excel both in school and beyond. Each day, students are served a full supper meal and an evening snack, generously sponsored by the USDA child nutrition program.
The BBC actively seeks community involvement through its volunteer program and parent and caregiver advisory committee. By working together, the BBC aims to offer crucial academic and family support in the most impactful way possible. For more information, please visit our program pages on our website
