## Description

Bob Thurman, also known as Professor Robert A.F. Thurman, is a renowned scholar and advocate for Tibetan Buddhism. As the first Westerner ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, he passionately shares the transformative teachings of the Buddha. Through his wisdom, he invites individuals to embrace their innate potential for freedom, happiness, and personal responsibility.

Thurman founded the American Institute of Buddhist Studies, dedicated to translating Tibetan arts and sciences into modern languages, linking it to the prestigious Jey Tsong Khapa Endowed Chair of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University. Additionally, he co-founded Tibet House US, serving as a cultural embassy in New York City, and the Menla Healing Center in the Catskill Mountains, where people can connect with Tibetan culture and practices.

Engaging in initiatives like workshops, podcasts, and online teachings, Thurman encourages everyone to explore the profound insights of Tibetan Buddhism and cultivate a deeper understanding of their humanity.
