## Description

The Bolyai Prize Foundation is a Hungarian nonprofit foundation established in 1998 by business leaders using private funds to recognize outstanding contributions to science and strengthen Hungary’s economic and social competitiveness. Its flagship award, the Bolyai János Creative Award, was first presented in 2000 and is regarded as a major privately initiated scientific distinction in Hungary. It is open to Hungarian citizens and people of Hungarian descent whose internationally significant achievements advance scientific research or development, train future generations of scientists, or apply scientific results in economic and social life. The award is multidisciplinary and has honored researchers across a broad range of fields. Recipients are selected by an independent, 15-member committee representing Hungarian scientific and public life, chaired by the country’s president. The foundation’s work also includes sharing information about the award, its laureates, and developments in Hungarian science through news, press materials, and video content. Recent recipients include mathematician András Stipsicz, honored in 2025, and mechanical engineer Gábor Stépán, who received the prize in 2023.
