## Description

BOMwiki is a free, collaboratively maintained encyclopedia that maps how products are made through their bills of materials (BOMs). Its catalog covers 4,672 products across 53 domains, from automobiles, machinery, and aerospace to home appliances, medical devices, and musical instruments. Together, its records map more than 30 million parts and nearly 193,000 distinct items.

Each product page breaks down assemblies and sub-assemblies into individual parts and quantities, sometimes tracing components to raw materials. Parts are shared across the catalog, allowing a correction to one entry to update every product that uses it. The site includes tools to browse products, suppliers, and 3D models, as well as a public editing process that credits contributors. Proposed changes are assessed by BOM Intelligence for structural issues and machine findings, while new contributors’ edits are reviewed before publication. Pages display verification statuses—unverified, machine-checked, or human-verified—so readers can understand how each entry has been assessed.
