## Description

OsteoProbe is a medical technology brand focused on measuring bone strength and quality beyond what imaging-based density tests can reveal. Its OsteoProbe® device is described as the first and only FDA-cleared device to directly assess bone material strength through contact rather than imaging. The test measures how bone tissue responds to microscopic taps and reports a Bone Material Strength Index (BMSi), presented to patients as a BoneScore®. The company positions this information as an additional data point alongside DXA, not a replacement for bone-density testing, helping clinicians evaluate patients whose fracture risk may not be reflected by their T-score alone.

The OsteoProbe procedure is performed in a doctor’s office. After the shin is numbed with local anesthetic, the device gently contacts the bone; results are available on screen before the patient leaves. The test is radiation-free and requires no sedation or recovery period. OsteoProbe serves physicians, including endocrinologists, oncologists and orthopedic surgeons, as well as patients and researchers.
