## Description

Bookup develops chess software for players who want to prepare seriously and improve their understanding of the game. Founded by chess software designer Mike Leahy, the company’s history includes Bookup for DOS, first published in 1982. Its main product, Chess Openings Wizard (COW), helps players build and expand personalized opening repertoires, study lines, and prepare for opponents. The software is available in Express and Professional editions for Windows and Macintosh, with mobile versions for iPhone, iPad, and Android. Players can also use it to study endgames and puzzles, and compare an opening repertoire with an opponent’s recent games. Bookup offers ready-to-learn opening repertoires, software updates, help resources, and upgrade options. For players seeking a game database and playing opponent, the company also offers MasterChess 9000 for Windows and Macintosh, described as a more affordable PGN collection app focused on core functions and game collections. Bookup’s products are designed for independent preparation, including the work of choosing and developing openings suited to a player’s style.
