## Description

BOSCO Uganda, which stands for Battery Operated Systems for Community Outreach, is a renowned not-for-profit organization based in Gulu, Uganda. Established in 2007, BOSCO-U was created to address the isolation faced by people in Internally Displaced People's (IDP) camps by introducing wireless computing powered by solar energy. The vision of BOSCO Uganda is to foster open and peaceful rural communities that are prepared to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the globalized world in the 21st century. With a mission to promote socioeconomic development and peacebuilding, BOSCO Uganda provides innovative ICT solutions through a collaborative and web-based approach. BOSCO Uganda focuses on two main thematic areas: connectivity and ICT skills development. Through partnerships with communities, BOSCO-U builds community-run networks and ICT centers, utilizing solar energy. These centers serve as hubs for ICT training, research, and education, benefiting educational institutions, health centers, local government headquarters, and NGOs. With their extensive impact, BOSCO Uganda has trained over 500 individuals in ICT skills and has powered over 55 learning institutes with renewable solar energy. Their internet access spans across the Acholi, Lango, and West-Nile sub-regions of Northern Uganda, connecting various institutions. As a not-for-profit organization, BOSCO Uganda is under the trusteeship of the Catholic Archdiocese of Gulu.
