Set among colourful peony beds, the farm produces premium 100% New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil, made from olives grown in the area’s Mediterranean-type climate and fertile soils. Its oil carries the OliveMark red seal, which verifies its New Zealand origin and Extra Virgin status. The olives are pressed within hours of picking to preserve freshness and quality. The oil has a fresh, grassy flavour with a hint of pepper, and is recommended for dipping, green salads, meat and vegetables. Boundary Gardens earned a gold medal at the 2013 New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards and a silver medal in 2014. The farm also grows around 9,000 peony plants across one hectare, including Sarah Bernhardt, Fiesta Maxima and Duchesse de Nemours.
