## Description

BPD Watch is a dedicated initiative aimed at enhancing civilian oversight of the Baltimore Police Department (BPD). This volunteer-run project, sponsored by Open Justice Baltimore, utilizes public and crowdsourced data to assemble comprehensive databases, digital galleries, and detailed profiles of BPD officers. These profiles not only include names and photographs but also aggregate mentions in news articles, court records, salaries, and citizen reports, fostering a more transparent view of law enforcement in the community.

Responding to concerns about transparency and accountability in policing, BPD Watch empowers citizens to know who patrols their neighborhoods. The platform allows for easy identification of officers who may abuse their power, promoting community trust and engagement. As a part of the OpenOversight project, which has successfully launched in various U.S. cities, BPD Watch is committed to furthering law enforcement accountability. The project's open-source software is available for collaborative development on GitHub, allowing other cities to establish similar programs. Join BPD Watch in promoting justice and transparency in policing.
