## Description

BRACE (Ballymun Recovery Addiction Community Education) is a community-based organisation responding to drug and alcohol issues in Ballymun, Dublin. Founded in 1981, it aims to reduce the harmful effects of substance use on individuals, families and the wider community. BRACE recognises that people’s needs can change over time, so its support spans low-threshold harm reduction through to abstinence-focused aftercare. Its approach also reflects the belief that recovery involves families and communities, not only individuals, and that people affected by addiction should not have to cope alone.

BRACE provides an Access and Intervention Centre, an Infant Parent Support Project, individual counselling, treatment programmes and courses, and aftercare and continuing care. Its services support people and families at different stages of concern about drug or alcohol use. The organisation also offers training, including introductory courses, a Community Addiction Studies Course, and training in keyworking, care planning and case management. Community representative and bespoke training are available as well.
