## Description

Brampton Old & New is a local history website dedicated to the ancient manor and parish of Brampton, including the area now within Chesterfield. It explores how the community developed over centuries, from its agricultural roots through industrial change and the creation of New Brampton, whose parish church, St Thomas, was consecrated in 1832. The site brings together historical material about the people, places and events that shaped the area, with a searchable database of residents and workers that focuses on community connections as well as family relationships.

Visitors can explore historic photographs, written records, parish registers, family histories, memorials and local newspaper extracts. Collections cover baptisms, marriages and burials, headstones, notable residents, local businesses, public events and everyday incidents. The website also documents the area’s historic tramway and honours local people who died in twentieth-century conflicts. Brampton Old & New invites visitors to contribute photographs, stories and memories, helping preserve and expand this shared record. Its research and content are free to access, with donations welcomed.
