## Description

Brasil.IO is a dedicated platform that serves as a repository for public data, making essential information available in an accessible format. Founded with the mission of promoting transparency, the initiative rallied a team of 40 volunteers to compile critical data concerning the COVID-19 pandemic from the 27 State Health Departments. Through this effort, Brasil.IO provides a historical database of confirmed cases and deaths by municipality, filling a gap caused by limited reporting from the Ministry of Health.

In addition to COVID-19 statistics, Brasil.IO offers a diverse range of datasets, including governmental spending, educational data reflecting PROUNI 2018 admissions, and demographic information derived from the 2010 census on Brazilian names. The platform encourages community involvement, inviting users to suggest new datasets and get involved in collaboration efforts. Through its blog and manifesto, Brasil.IO seeks to explain its foundational goals and foster a culture of data-driven insights in Brazil.
