## Description

Brave Island is a creative network for young people on the Isle of Wight, created by Ventnor Exchange to help them explore and develop their interests in the arts and creative industries. The platform offers free membership and connects young people with mentoring, funding, experiences, training and career development opportunities. Its listings span fields including music, performing arts, visual art, film and television, gaming and animation, design, architecture, crafts, writing, heritage, marketing and creative enterprise.

Opportunities range from commissions, awards and funding to work experience, placements, creative trips, festival activities and chances to share work. Examples include the Isle of Wight Young Artist Award, a production assistant placement, creative visits and submissions to the Brave Island Zine. The network also shares updates and stories through its blog and supports young people to take part in local creative events, including the Brave Island Festival and Ventnor Fringe. Through its opportunities and community activities, Brave Island provides an accessible starting point for young people seeking inspiration, practical experience and connections in the creative sector.
