## Description

Breaking Barriers NW is a registered charity based in Bolton, founded by three parents of disabled children. It works to challenge barriers to inclusion, raise awareness and celebrate individuality. The charity supports disabled children and young people aged 0–25, their parents and carers, and adults with autism aged 18 and over. Its work focuses on promoting equality of opportunity and choice, supporting family wellbeing, and helping parents and carers feel better equipped to engage with the agencies and organisations involved in their children’s lives.

Breaking Barriers NW provides bespoke groups and activities, opportunities to connect with others, and a listening ear for families. It also signposts parents and carers to relevant local services. For adults with autism, the charity facilitates ABAG, the Adult Bolton Autism Group, which meets monthly. Groups and events are supported through donations and fundraising, with money raised going directly towards these activities for participants and their families or carers. The charity welcomes suggestions, shared experiences and ideas from the community.
