## Description

The Briercliffe Society is a vibrant community organization founded to promote and preserve the history and heritage of Briercliffe-with-Extwistle following the release of Roger Frost's illuminating book. Initially formed as a local history group, it quickly expanded to serve a broader purpose, fostering community engagement through a variety of activities. With a committed founding trio, including Donald Taylor, Kenneth Bythell, and Roger Frost, the Society has thrived, organizing informative evening talks and popular events like the June Trail and July Trips.

In partnership with the Briercliffe Allotments & Gardens Society, the Society successfully revived the beloved Briercliffe Flower Show, strengthening community ties. It played a pivotal role in the establishment of the local Community Centre, which now serves as its operational base. Today, The Briercliffe Society remains dedicated to its foundational work while adapting to contemporary needs, ensuring the legacy and close-knit spirit of the Briercliffe community endure for future generations.
