## Description

Brightest Star is a registered Scottish charity founded in 2013 in memory of Jack Kennedy, who died shortly before his sixth birthday. The organisation supports families grieving the loss of a child, sibling or grandchild, and welcomes people regardless of the child’s age or cause of death. Its services are designed to offer practical help, remembrance and opportunities to connect with others facing bereavement.

Families can access Hulk’s Haven Retreat, a place of support for bereaved parents and siblings, as well as monthly parent support group meetings in Glasgow. Brightest Star also offers play therapy for siblings aged four to 16, wellbeing workshops, hand casting, bereaved-family events and memory boxes containing items to help families remember their child. Teddy bears are provided to mortuaries and funeral parlours for parents to leave with their child. The charity is also working with SCOTSTAR to provide a support transport ambulance for Edinburgh’s Sick Kids Hospital.
