## Description

Bright Start is an education-focused organisation working to improve access to quality learning for children in under-resourced communities in South Africa. Its mission is to help break the cycle of poverty through education, with programmes serving children in the Hangberg and Imizamu Yethu townships of Hout Bay.

The organisation offers two main interventions. Its Sponsorship Programme connects individual sponsors with children, helping them attend quality schools. Its Tutor Programme provides targeted support in mathematics and English for students at risk of dropping out. Working with a partner school, Bright Start collaborates with teachers to identify learning gaps and delivers tutoring in small groups. The programme reports average improvements of around 15 to 20 percent in maths and English.

Through these initiatives, Bright Start aims to address educational inequality and strengthen children’s opportunities for the future. The organisation also invites the public to donate and provides programme information through downloadable factsheets. Its work focuses on practical support for learners, combining access to schooling with additional help where students need it most.
