## Description

Brightway, formerly known as DDI, is a Long Island organization supporting people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. With more than 60 years of experience, it serves over 1,600 people and their families, offering support from early childhood through adulthood. Brightway’s approach combines behavioral science and evidence-based practices with creative teaching, expertise, and compassion, helping each person progress at their own pace.

Programs include early childhood and preschool services for ages three to five, school-age education and support for ages five to 21, and children’s residential services. For adults, Brightway offers day services, residential services, self-direction support, transportation, and vocational employment. Its programs focus on learning, communication, relationships, career development, and everyday skills, with activities designed to make learning engaging.

Brightway also provides family support and connects families with community resources. Its research work includes applied behavior analysis, and the organization welcomes community involvement through volunteering, advocacy, donations, and events. Across its services, Brightway emphasizes continuity, partnership, and the belief that progress is always possible.
