## Description

BELO is an annual international initiative of the Europamundo Foundation that works to combat stigma surrounding mental health problems. Through its contest, educational content, and public engagement, BELO encourages people to share stories, creative work, and perspectives that foster understanding and open conversations about mental health. The contest welcomes participation from individuals, mental health professionals, institutions, and associations, and offers opportunities to enter, serve as a juror, or create and sponsor a category.

BELO’s categories span personal accounts of mental health challenges, workplace-related issues, visual and audiovisual arts, music, social media, and works created using artificial intelligence. The initiative also publishes educational articles and features on mental health, help-seeking, and the effects of stigma, alongside interviews and stories about artists and public figures. Its editions have drawn participants and registrations from multiple countries, with the 2026 contest listing 22 categories. BELO shares past editions, news, and contest information through its website and social channels, and offers a newsletter for people who want updates.
