## Description

The Britain Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) is a UK charity that has supported health and poverty reduction in Nepal for nearly 60 years. Working in close partnership with BNMT Nepal, it backs locally led, evidence-based programmes designed to improve community health and create sustainable change. Its work reaches more than 56 districts and is delivered through Nepali-led initiatives.

BNMT focuses on tuberculosis and other infectious diseases, supporting community outreach, diagnosis, treatment, and stronger public-health systems for vulnerable people. Its programmes also address adolescent and women’s health, including education, menstrual health, wellbeing, and reproductive rights. Other areas include pathogen genomics and surveillance, research and evidence, nutrition and social determinants of health, and health-system and disaster resilience.

The Trust supports training for local health workers, community-based services, and research that can inform policy and practice. It also responds to emergencies, including flooding, by seeking support for relief and reconstruction in Nepal. Individuals can contribute through donations, volunteering, or gifts in a will, helping fund practical services such as nutrition support for people recovering from tuberculosis and outreach to remote communities.
