## Description

The British Red Cross is an independent UK humanitarian charity that helps people facing conflict, disasters, hardship and displacement. Founded in 1870, it has supported communities for more than 150 years and is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Working alongside government and partners, the organisation provides assistance in the UK and around the world, including crisis response, emergency support, health and social care, and help for people affected by hunger or forced to flee their homes. Its services include hiring wheelchairs delivered to customers’ doors, and learning first aid online, through an app or at free workshops. The charity also runs shops selling pre-loved goods and offers a free will-writing service during Free Wills Month. People can support its work through donations, monthly giving, volunteering and fundraising. The British Red Cross reports supporting 1.4 million people worldwide with life-saving humanitarian assistance and responding to 1,300 UK crises. Its approach is guided by neutrality and impartiality, with help directed to people who need it most.
