## Description

Brown Girls Do Ballet® is a brand that aims to promote diversity in the arts, particularly in ballet programs. As a division of Brown Girls Do.® Inc, a registered 501(c)3 organization, they strive to empower young girls by providing them with annual scholarships, a mentor network, and various community programs. Through organized ballet performances, photo exhibitions, and the provision of resources and scholarships, Brown Girls Do Ballet® works to increase the participation of underrepresented populations in ballet. The brand's mission is supported by merchandise sales and fundraisers. It all began in 2013 as a personal photography project by TaKiyah Wallace, who was searching for a ballet program for her daughter and was disappointed by the lack of cultural diversity. Since then, the project has evolved into a movement that redefines ballet to reflect the diversity of America today. Joining Brown Girls Do Ballet® means joining a community dedicated to celebrating diversity in ballet.
