## Description

Budapest Főnix Kendo and Iaido Club is a nonprofit sports association dedicated to the practice of kendo, iaido, and the traditions of Japanese culture. Founded in 1982, it describes itself as Hungary’s first kendo club and has taught these Japanese sword arts in Budapest for more than four decades. Its training welcomes beginners and experienced practitioners alike, with no age limit, and includes sessions for both children and adults. Alongside developing martial arts skills, the club emphasizes concentration, self-discipline, perseverance, and respect for samurai traditions.

The club organizes regular kendo and iaido classes, shares information about both disciplines, and provides opportunities for members to take part in competitions, seminars, and other events. It also hosts the Hungary Sakura Cup, its spring competition, and the Hungary Momiji Cup, held in autumn. Through training, events, and cultural activities, Budapest Főnix Kendo and Iaido Club supports practitioners at different stages of their journey while helping preserve and share Japanese martial arts traditions in Hungary.
