## Description

Budokan 38 is a martial arts centre in Bourgoin-Jallieu, France, with a history dating back to 1975, when it was founded as the Karaté-Club de Bourgoin-Jallieu. It adopted the Budokan 38 name in 1983 as its programme expanded to include a wider range of disciplines. Today, the club offers classes in Japanese sword arts, jujutsu, Shotokai karate, kendo, Qi Gong, self-defence, Tai Chi Chuan and Yoseikan Budo. Its activities serve a range of interests, from traditional martial arts practice and physical development to competition and personal progression, with opportunities such as children’s and teenagers’ karate grade examinations and Yoseikan Budo championships. Budokan 38 also supports learning beyond regular classes through introductory workshops, seminars and cultural events, including a planned conference on Japanese armour. The club publishes information about schedules, seasonal closures, fees, registration and trial sessions to help prospective and current members take part. With its broad programme and emphasis on both practice and exchange, Budokan 38 brings martial arts training and cultural activity together in a community club setting.
