## Description

BuildGroup is an Austin-based investment firm that partners with emerging software-as-a-service companies using AI-enabled workflows. Founded around the experience of former technology founders and executives, the firm combines investment with hands-on business-building support. Its team helps companies navigate the “awkward phase” after establishing an initial product and customer base, when priorities shift toward creating a sustainable business.

BuildGroup works with founders moving from early product-market fit toward durable growth, offering operational and business expertise to help scale their companies. The firm invests in only two to three new companies each year, allowing its operators to provide founders and portfolio businesses with focused, high-touch support. Its approach emphasizes long-term partnership rather than a fixed exit timeline, with growth strategies shaped by each company’s market and goals.

The BuildGroup team includes experienced investors and operators, some with backgrounds at Rackspace and OpenStack, as well as founders from its portfolio who advise other companies. Through its portfolio, team, approach, and newsletter, BuildGroup shares its work supporting sustainable company growth.
