## Description

Sebastiaan Grosscurt is an ecologist, journalist, educator and moderator who explores the relationship between people and nature. Combining scientific research, data analysis and clear storytelling, he aims to make environmental issues accessible and encourage greater awareness of the living world.

As a doctoral researcher at Leiden University’s Centre for Environmental Sciences, Grosscurt investigates the combined effects of artificial light and traffic noise on wildlife. Using sound recordings, nighttime measurements and machine learning, his research examines how birds change their songs in response to light and noise pollution.

His journalism draws on expertise in ecology, sustainability and data analysis. He researches and writes engaging stories on biodiversity, agriculture, climate change, activism and related topics, presenting complex questions in written or spoken form. Grosscurt also offers educational activities that help people of different ages experience nature outdoors, as well as event moderation, hosting and lectures. He enjoys leading interactive discussions while making space for others to contribute.
