## Description

Bumble Bees RUFC, also known as the Bumble Bees Barbarians, is England’s original mixed ability contact rugby club. Established in 2008, the Bradford-based club was founded after player Anthony Brooke, who has cerebral palsy, expressed a desire to play full-contact rugby alongside other players. With support from the Rugby Football Union and Bradford and Bingley Rugby Football Club, the team created an inclusive place for adults with and without disabilities to play together.

The club offers rugby training, coaching and regular fixtures against able-bodied teams, as well as events, tours and opportunities to volunteer or support its work. Its approach emphasizes safe, energetic and enjoyable coaching, teamwork, mutual support and personal achievement. Bumble Bees aims to build players’ confidence, improve health and wellbeing, and raise aspirations through sport. With more than 40 registered players, almost half of whom are disabled, the club promotes rugby without boundaries and seeks to broaden the experiences of both its own players and opposing teams.
