## Description

Burgh Bees is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to promoting urban beekeeping in Pittsburgh. Established in 2006, it aims to introduce the importance of bees and beekeeping to local communities, encouraging environmental stewardship among Pittsburghers. The Burgh Bees Community Apiary stands out as the first of its kind in the nation, serving as a vibrant hub for the urban beekeeping movement.

The organization offers a variety of programs designed to engage and educate individuals interested in beekeeping, including seminars and mentorship opportunities for beginner beekeepers. Participants learn how to manage their own hives responsibly and maintain urban apiaries, thus contributing to the health of bee populations, which have faced significant challenges due to habitat loss and other environmental stresses. In addition to its educational programs, Burgh Bees actively supports the community through resources aimed at fostering awareness and advocacy for pollinator health. By joining Burgh Bees, individuals can become part of a growing movement that values bees and their vital role in our ecosystem.
