## Description

The Burnsville Historical Society is an independent, volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to gathering, preserving, and sharing the stories of Burnsville, Minnesota, and its nearby communities. Its mission is to help people connect with their community and understand its past, whether they have lived in Burnsville for generations or have just arrived. The Society operates primarily as a digital historical organization, making its materials available online without charge through its website and social media channels.

Visitors can explore a searchable archive of more than 13,000 documents, including photographs and historical records, as well as a newspaper collection with editions dating back to 1975 and a growing set of Burnsville High School yearbooks beginning in 1960. The website also features local history articles, maps, aerial comparisons, photo galleries, quizzes, and resources about notable places and events. The Society welcomes community contributions, such as photographs, letters, videos, and news clippings, and offers volunteer opportunities in digitization, research, interviews, and writing. It receives no government financial support.
