About
Description
The Busby Foundation, based in Austin, Texas, is dedicated to empowering ALS patients and their families in Central Texas. Their mission is to provide support and assistance to help comfort individuals and address the overwhelming demands and lifestyle changes that come with the disease. The foundation was established in November 2001 in honor of the late Bo Busby, who bravely battled ALS and selflessly assisted other ALS patients and their families.
Today, the Busby Foundation continues to serve and support Central Texas families affected by this tragic disease. The foundation thrives thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers, as well as its distinguished Board of Directors. These individuals work tirelessly to improve the foundation and its impact on the community.
ALS, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive and often fatal disease that affects the nerve cells in the central nervous system responsible for voluntary muscle movement. While the cause of ALS is not fully understood, there is growing scientific knowledge and resources available for ALS families. The Busby Foundation, in collaboration with the National ALS organization, focuses on collecting and distributing essential resources to local families facing ALS.
Their goal is to alleviate challenges and improve the quality of life for both patients and caregivers as they battle this debilitating disease
