## Description

Bushi and Brush Arts Dojo is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania, school that brings together martial arts and creative instruction. Inspired by the philosophy of the Samurai, the dojo describes its approach as a twofold path: learning to defend and learning to create. Its karate lessons focus on self-defense and discipline, while its art classes support students in pursuing their creative goals.

The school welcomes people who are new to art as well as those with prior experience. It also offers guidance with time management, working through roadblocks, and setting and meeting goals, helping students continue their artistic development. Instruction is led by Jessica Becker and Joanna Becker. Jessica is a freelance artist and writer, a second-degree black belt with the title of Sensei, and a graduate of SCAD with a degree in sequential art. Her listed skills include comics, character design, and storytelling. Joanna is an illustrator and first-degree black belt, with a bachelor’s degree in illustration and a minor in art history from PCA&D.
